Board and Train Q&A

1. What does a typical day look like in the Board and Train program?

A typical day starts with your dog waking up and going outside for bathroom time. They are then hand-fed breakfast through training, which serves as their first training session. After a break, they have a second training session followed by another break. Finally, they participate in a third session that includes socialization with other dogs.

2. How long will my dog stay in training, and how do you determine the appropriate length?

The length of your dog’s stay in training depends on your specific goals and expectations, as well as the age and temperament of your dog. This will be discussed and determined during the initial consultation.

3. What kind of training methods do you use?

At Endless Pawsibilities, we use a balanced training approach that focus on building a strong bond between you and your dog while encouraging good behavior. (Scroll to the bottom to learn more about Balanced Training)

4. What age is ideal for a board and train candidate?

Dogs can attend our boarding and training programs as early as 4 months of age (or as soon as they receive their rabies vaccine). For more advanced behaviors like off-leash control, we believe it's best to wait until puppy is at least 5 months of age.

5. Will my dog receive socialization with other dogs and people?

Yes, socialization is an integral part of our program. Your dog will have opportunities to interact with other dogs and people during their time with us. While we encourage healthy socialization with every dog, we understand that not all dogs like other dogs or people. This can be discussed in the consult and modifications will be made to ensure everyone is safe and happy.

6. How do you handle behavioral issues like anxiety or aggression?

Our experienced trainers assess each dog’s needs and tailor the training approach accordingly. We focus on a balanced training approach to address behavioral issues effectively and encourage a long-term change. We do not currently accept dog aggression or human aggression cases.

7. What is included in the weekly updates?

You will receive weekly updates that include photos and videos of your dog’s progress, as well as insights into their training sessions and behaviors.

8. Will I have opportunities to be involved in the training process?

Yes! We encourage owner involvement through midpoint lessons and transfer lessons at the end of the program to ensure a smooth transition.

9. What happens after the training program ends?

After the program, we provide follow-up support and additional resources to help you maintain your dog’s training at home. We also encourage you to maintain your dog's socialization and training skills by enrolling them in our social club or boarding. Once your dog graduates from our training, he or she is then welcome to board and attend daycare on a regular basis.

10. Do you offer lifetime support after the program is complete?

Yes, we believe in providing lifetime support to our clients to ensure continued success in training.

11. Can I schedule a visit to see the training facility and meet the trainers?

Absolutely! We encourage prospective clients to visit our facility and meet our team to feel comfortable with their decision. A consultation is mandatory prior to enrollment of any of our training programs.

12. What should I bring for my dog during their stay?

You will receive a detailed list of items to bring, including food, any medications, and personal items that will make your dog feel more comfortable.

13. Are there any specific requirements for dogs to join the program?

We assess each dog during the consultation to determine if they are a good fit for our program.

14. What is your policy on cancellations or rescheduling?

Our cancellation and rescheduling policies will be outlined during the consultation, ensuring clarity for all clients.

15. Where does my dog sleep at night?

Board and Train students sleep in their assigned rooms each night. We have 24-hour care to ensure staff members are available should your dog need to use the restroom at night or if an emergency would occur.

16. Can I visit my dog while he/she is in training?

Yes, but! :) While we would never tell someone they cannot come and visit their dog, we do adhere to following whatever protocol is best for your dog. If you have a dog who is anxious and having a hard time with being away from home, a visit may worsen this behavior. On the flip side, if you have a happy-go-lucky dog who is just happy to be anywhere the fun is, we have no issues with visitations. Our only requirement is that it's scheduled with the trainer.

17. Do you offer payment plans?

All of our board and train programs allow for payments to be split in 3. When the reservation is made, we require a NON-REFUNDABLE 25% of the total. At drop off, we require 50% and on the last day of training, we require the remaining balance of 25%.

18. What is balanced training?

Balanced training is an approach that incorporates a variety of techniques and tools to address a dog’s behavior and obedience. This method emphasizes the use of both positive reinforcement and, when necessary, corrective measures to help dogs learn desired behaviors effectively.

Key Components of Balanced Training:

1. Positive Reinforcement:

This involves rewarding desired behaviors with treats, praise, or play. The goal is to encourage and strengthen good behavior by making it rewarding for the dog.

2. Corrective Measures:

Balanced training acknowledges that not all behaviors can be shaped through rewards alone. If a dog exhibits undesirable behaviors—such as jumping, barking excessively, or not responding to commands—trainers may use appropriate corrective techniques. These can include verbal corrections, leash guidance, or other tools to redirect the dog’s focus.

3. Clear Communication:

Balanced training relies on clear and consistent communication between the trainer and the dog. This helps the dog understand expectations and learn appropriate behaviors.

4. Individualized Approach:

Each dog is unique, and balanced training recognizes that different dogs may respond to different methods. Trainers assess the dog’s temperament, personality, and specific needs to create a tailored training plan.

5. Focus on Relationship Building:

The ultimate goal of balanced training is to strengthen the bond between the dog and the owner. By using a mix of techniques, the trainer fosters mutual respect and understanding.
